
ORLANDO VICI’S richest Australasian son has captured his first win in New Zealand.
Group 2 New South Wales” Trotters’ Derby winner XEBEC opened his NZ account at Cambridge on June 11.
Driven by Zac Butcher, the four-year-old started off 35m in his fifth start since being taken to NZ by trainer Ben Aubron.
The Yabby Darm Farms-bred Xebec has now won five times for more than $60,000 in earnings.
He is the second winner in New Zealand for his French-bred sire.
Orlando Vic has only had five offspring race in NZ, with Orlando Magic his other winner.
Xebec is from Orlando Vici’s first Australian crop, which also includes group 1-placed Brandlo Prince (6 wins), group 2-placed Just Believe (5 wins), Montpellier (4 wins) and Deneuve Star (1:56.6, 4 wins).
