High priced LOVE YOU colt LEAF STRIDE lived up to early expectations by winning on debut in New Zealand on Friday, August 28.

Leaf Stride led for most of the journey in the FAHEY FENCE HIRE TROT, 1980m.

He rated 2:2.5 after running his last 800m in 58 seconds and final 400m in 29.7

Leaf Stride was bred by MA Craig and is raced by Australians Emilio and Mary Rosati’s E and M Stride Corporation.

Leading trainer Phil Williamson prepares the three-year-old gelding, which is out Sundon mare SUN MIST.

She is now the dam of eight winners.

The Rosatis outlaid $90,000 for Leaf Stride at the 2019 NZB Standardbred Yearling Sale in Christchurch

This was the second highest price paid for a trotter at the sale

Another Love You colt (out of Diedre’s Jewel) topped the sale in being knocked down for $105,000. He is yet to race.

Love You was the leading trotting stallion for the sale, with 10 lots sold at an average of $40,350.
