QUAKER JET 5yo LA SERENA underlined her rising status among trotting mares ranks with an emphatic victory in the G2 $30,000 VICBRED PLATINUM MARES SPRINT CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL, 1720m, at Melton on Friday night.

La Serena made short work of her rivals after easing forward three-wide from the gate to lead, to rate a career-best 1:56.8 in scoring by 10m.

Bred and raced by Yabby Dam Racing and trained by Alex Ashwood, La Serena now has three wins on end after taking out to heats of the series.

Her career standings are 8 wins in 29 starts, with this win taking her earnings past $50,000.

La Serena was the second leg of a double at Melton fort Quaker Jet.

NIGHT WHISPERER took out the DNR LOGISTICS TROT after enjoying a sit on the back of the leader.

A 5yo, he did not race as a 2yo and after 7 victories last season this gives 8 for his career and takes his earnings past $50,000.

On a big night for Quaker Jet, star mare IM READY JET finished third in the G1 Great Southern Star and in doing so her earnings went past $300,000.

She is Quaker Jet’s richest winning progeny from his 17 Australian-bred winners.

Used To Me 6yo Chateaubriant rounded out a busy week with a tearaway win in the Canberra Trotters Cup on Sunday night - winning by 44.7m after making his rivals chase hard for most of the 2570m journey.

He’s now had 7 starts this season for 5 wins and 2 seconds.
