GROUP 1 FIRST FOR USED TO ME

Highly promising two-year-old trotter DONT CARE has capped off a breakout season for Australian-based French-bred stallion USED TO ME in the best possible way.

He gave Used To Me his first group 1 success as a sire in a VICBRED SUPER SERIES final at Melton on Thursday, December 31.

Dont Care settled outside the leader before finally landing the one-out one-back sit before staking his claim in the home straight.

He held on by 2.6m from Bromwich, with Aldebaran Zeus third in a grinding finish. He rated 1:59.9

It gave Dont Care, which is trained by Kate Hargreaves, his fifth win and built on his second in the group 1 Breeders Crown final.

His earnings stand at $87,000 – an outstanding return on the purchase price of the Yabby Dam Farms-bred youngster of $11,000 at an Australian Premier Trotting Yearling Sale.

After having just the two winners from four starters in 2018-19, Used The Me had eight individual winners last season from just 14 starters. All up he has just 15 runners.

IMSETTOGO has led the way for the season, with the four-year-old mare winning eight times.

In addition to Dont Care’s five wins, She Sailz won three – including the group 3 Vicbred Super Series 2yo Silver Trot – My Used To Me three.
