EYE-CATCHING AT CANBERRA

Big effort by USED TO ME gelding CHATEAUBRIANT in winning first-up for New South Wales trainer Grant Forrest and his new connections PA Forrest an

d JL Lucas at Canberra on Sunday night.

Chateaubriant lost a substantial amount of the ground at the start before rejoining the main field and then moving up three-wide to sit outside the leader.

He then out-stayed his rivals, going away by 10m in the SOUTHERN PLANT HIRE MOBILE, 2170m.

Chateaubriant was bred by Yabby Dam Farms and had one win in 20 starts for Anton Golino in Ballarat. He also finished third in the group 3 VICBRED SUPER SERIES 3YO SILVER TROT.

The four-year-old is out United States-bred mare Lets Be Happy, which is the dam of five winners.

Canberra has been happy hunting ground for Haras des Trotteurs stallions in the past few weeks.

ORLANDO VICI three-year-old GUNNER had his first career win at the same track on September 28.
