“Athletic. A natural from day one.”
This is how respected News South Wales horseman Blake Fitzpatrick describes promising two-year-old filly Cee Cee In Paris - the first Australian-bed winner by French-bred sire Classic Connection.
Cee Cee in Paris had the historic win in a NSW 2yo Trotters Foundation heat at Menangle on June 3.
Fitzpatrick’s wife Lisa bred, owns and trains the filly, which has had four race starts.
Their daughter Zara took the winning drive.
Pat Driscoll secured Classic Connection, a son of the great Love You Fra, for the Haras des Trotteurs roster after he had stood one season in France.
Blake Fitzpatrick has been impressed with Cee Cee In Paris from day one.
“She was a really nice type of foal, athletic, and showed that she was a natural from day one of breaking in.”
He said Love You’s stock generally take some time and continue to improve, but he had found that the Classic Connections seem to be more natural juvenile trotters.
He has a number of Classic Connections in his stable and has found them to be “get up and go” types.
“They’re quick learners and very well gaited.
“They’re natural juvenile trotters.”
The Fitzpatricks bred Cee Cee In Paris out of Muscles Yankee mare Glenferrie Conquer to provide a strong Franco-American bloodline - a mix which has had a major impact on the trotting gait.
Cee Cee In Paris was the first of two winners for Classic Connection in the space of two days.
Franco Americano, his only other Australian-bred starter to date, saluted at Maryborough on June 4.
The two-year-old gelding was bred and is raced by Charles Cauchi, with Tyrone Abela the trainer.
Cauchi said Franco Americano had been born with strong, straight limbs.
“He’s been a quick learner and wants to please.
“He has a great attitude and had a free-flowing fluent Love You-like gate all the way through his education.”
