Her gross time of 2:26.6 took one second off the New Zealand 1980m class record. “She is a lovely filly. She will head to the paddock now,” Purdon said. Driver Tim Williams described her as a “really intelligent horse”.
Wanna Play With Me was bred by Trevor Casey and is raced by Casey, Kate Marriott, and Peter Ryder.
She is trained by Mark Purdon and Natalie Rasmussen, and now has a record of four win in seven starts for $NZ45, 135.
Wanna Play With Me is out of Wanna Play, which also won the race in 2014.
The Sires Stakes Championship is usually for two-year-old trotters, but was delayed and run as a three-year-old event bas a result of racing being shutdown earlier this year because of COVID-19.
